Zubaidah Ya'cobMalaysiaSenior LecturerUniversiti MalayaDr. Zubaidah Ya’cob is a Senior Lecturer at the Tropical Infectious Diseases Research and Education Centre (TIDREC), Universiti Malaya. She earned her PhD in Entomology from Universiti Malaya and is currently an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Liverpool (2025–2026). With over a decade of experience in vector research, she has been instrumental in integrating scientific research with community health outreach, particularly in underserved populations across Malaysia.
Dr. Zubaidah’s expertise lies in vector biology and vector-borne diseases, with a focus on entomology, ecology, and epidemiology. Her research explores the transmission ecology and pathogen surveillance of arthropod vectors including black flies, chigger mites, ticks, and biting midges. She applies a One Health approach to investigate zoonotic disease emergence at the human-animal-environment interface.Dr. Zubaidah has authored over 70 ISI-indexed publications and holds an H-index of 14. She has secured more than MYR1 million in research grants from national and international bodies, including the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education, IRD France, and the UK’s ISPF. She was awarded the Universiti Malaya Excellence Award (ACUM) for community engagement and is regularly invited as a speaker, jury, and media commentator on vector-related public health issues.
