DrMariana Ahamad
Dr Mariana Ahamad is a senior researcher with the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) and currently the Head of Acarology Unit, under the Infectious Diseases Research Centre. She is the subject matter expert for the identification of Acari (ticks and mites) of public health importance. Over the years, her scope of research is in understanding the basics of Acari to their potential health risk, namely dust mite allergy, scabies, Scrub Typhus, Tick Typhus, human otoacariasis and tick-borne diseases. She gives lectures and training on laboratory and field techniques used in Acarology and at times serves as co-supervisors or consultants in postgraduate research projects and also serve as external examiner for postgraduate thesis by invitation.
