Dr. Siti Roszilawati is a Pathologist (Medical Microbiology) who began serving in the Bacteriology Unit, Infectious Disease Research Centre, Institute for Medical Research (IMR) in 2019. She obtained her medical degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia, a Master’s degree in Pathology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Dr rer nat) in Molecular Microbiology from Technische Universität, Braunschweig, Germany. As a Pathologist specializing in Medical Microbiology, she is currently more focused on the field of clinical microbiology, particularly bacteriology. In addition, she is actively involved in biomedical research, especially in the development of diagnostic methods using molecular techniques and sequencing, as well as vaccine development studies. Her diagnostic and research niche include Tuberculosis, Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM), and tropical infectious diseases such as Rickettsiosis, Brucellosis, Leptospirosis, Melioidosis, Bartonellosis and Lyme Disease. She had started molecular tests for diagnostic and research for these diseases at IMR. She is also a member of the national technical working group for Tuberculosis and Zoonotic Diseases.
