Potential Acari Vector of Rickettsial Diseases: Findings from the Research and Diagnostic Service by the IMR

The Unit of Acarology in IMR has conducted various aspects of research on Acari (ticks & mites) of medical and public health importance. These include taxonomy, biology, ecology, and control of the potential Acari vector. Diagnostic service to detect Rickettsia, Borrelia and other bacterial pathogens in ticks and chiggers has also been established. The talk will summarize all research findings by the Acarology Unit in relation to rickettsial diseases and detection of pathogens in Acari diagnostic samples sent to the IMR.
